Ukryte znaczenia. Sztuka na Pomorzu w XVI i XVII wieku / Verborgene Botschaften. Kunst in Pommern im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert, exhibition catalogue, ed. M. Frankowska-Makała, R. Makała, Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie, Szczecin 2022, digital publication.

The 362-page catalogue of the exhibition Hidden Messages. Art in Pomerania in the 16th and 17th Centuries contains, in addition to an essay on modern art in Pomerania, 71 extensive catalogue notes on exhibits from the collection of the National Museum in Szczecin.

Apart from works of painting and sculpture, it also presents goldsmiths' wares, ceramics and militaria. In accordance with the exhibition layout, the catalogue is divided into three chapters: Protestant Art in Pomerania, In the Circle of the Court and From Italy to the Netherlands - the Horizons of Pomeranian Art. Some of the artefacts are published for the first time, and in many cases research has led to new findings regarding dating and attribution.

Professor Waldemar Wojciechowski of the Academy of Art in Szczecin is the author of the graphic design of the publication. The photographs were taken especially for the catalogue by Karolina Gołębiowska, Natalia Laskowska, Arkadiusz Piętak and Grzegorz Solecki.

The German-Polish publication is part of the project "Common Heritage, Common Future", co-financed by the European Union through the INTERREG VA programme and the West-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The catalogue is available free of charge as a pdf file at  https://wspolne-dziedzictwo.muzeum.szczecin.pl/en/about-project.html, in "Publications" bookmark.
