Museum Book of the Year Competition

"Macierz. Szczecińskie muzea i sztuka dla nowego Pomorzanina. 1910-1945” by Szymon Piotr Kubiak, PhD, won a distinction at the 2nd Museum Book of the Year Competition.

The publication, produced by the National Museum in Szczecin in collaboration with the Academy of Art in Szczecin, was recognised in the Scientific Publishing category. The jury assessed the books from the point of view of content, didactics, aesthetic harmony, linking the content, technical and design elements of the book, as well as distribution and promotion strategies and accessibility.

The author of the distintcion-winning publication is Szymon Piotr Kubiak, PhD, Head of the Department of European Art 1800 - 1945 at the National Museum in Szczecin. Piotr Nikodem Wardziukiewicz of the Academy of Art in Szczecin is responsible for the graphic design of the publication.

Reviewing this monograph, Prof. Eryk Krasucki wrote that it is: (...) a multifaceted, extremely erudite and intriguing description and interpretation of the regenerative projects that were attempted in Pomerania in the first half of the 20th century. The monograph sparkles with ideas and brilliant comparisons, delighting with its fresh approach. At the same time it sets a new course for research into the past of Szczecin and Pomerania, and should be of interest to a wide range of humanists.

The Museum Book of the Year competition is organised by the National Institute of Museums and this year's partner is the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
